Sean Lewis
Landscape Photographer
Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. I am a fine art landscape photographer based in the South Downs village of Slindon in West Sussex. Through my work I strive to move beyond the constraints of the illustrative and try to explore meaning and evoke a connection with the landscape to reveal its mysteries that seem so disregarded and neglected in this materialistic western culture. The deeper I look for answers in the landscape the more questions I seem to find. I attempt to translate this journey of inner exploration in to images via form, texture, light and presence that I hope will encourage the viewer to engage in and understand the life and soul of wild places of the world we live in. The equipment I use is a 5×4″ view camera with 3 lenses which yield an image of incredible detail and depth. I also enjoy the more methodical and disciplined way of working that the view camera demands which forces me to slow down and compose images in a more concise and meditative way beneath the darkcloth. All of my images are now made on colour transparency or black and white negative film using an Ebony view camera.
I hope you enjoy my images, please feel free to contact me via the contact page if you would like to comment .
